Un Prophete Sweeps Cesars
Hard-hitting prison drama A Prophet has won nine awards at the Cesar awards, the French equivalent of the Oscars.
Jacques Audiard’s film was named best movie at the ceremony, with additional prizes going to lead actor Tahar Rahim and the director himself.
Film Opens Friday in Toronto.

Mediatheque Presents - French Films Thursdays (monthly)
The NFB Mediatheque and its French partners offer a monthly French screening series, Ciné-Jeudi, the first Thursday of every month. This season’s films celebrate recent classics from the Cannes Film Festival. Screenings are $6/person, with a discounted rate of $4 for students, seniors, NFB members and members of the French partner organizations.

“LAST TRAIN HOME”
Every spring, China’s cities are plunged into chaos, as all at once, a tidal wave of people attempt to return home by train. It is the Chinese New Year. The wave is made up of millions of migrant factory workers. The homes they seek are the rural villages and families they left behind to seek work in the booming coastal cities. It is an epic spectacle that tells us much about China, a country discarding traditional ways as it hurtles towards modernity and global economic dominance.
