Harry Knowles to produce GHOST TOWN
It sounds like something out of a Hollywood satire, but it is in fact TRUE.
The rumblings began yesterday on Ain’t It Cool News when the words “Stupendous Earth-Shattering Announcement!!!” were posted in over-sized type. The site was immediately clogged with geeks logging on with hopes that George Lucas had decided to produce another three Star Wars films ... or at least release the original trilogy on DVD.
Unfortunately, there was no announcement to be seen. Instead, just a blurb saying that there would be one soon. This of course got the geeks worked up into an even bigger frenzy. But when the news finally came, it was not through Aint It Cool News, but through the mainstream entertainment publication Variety.
The scoop was that Harry Knowles had scored a production deal with Revolution Studios. The first project will be Ghost Town. Knowles is currently working with a screenwriter in order to bring his vision to life.
We’ll keep you posted.

The Rock signs on for GET SHORTY 2.
Variety reports that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed on to play Chili Palmer’s gay bodyguard in Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty. John Travolta will be reprising the role of Chili Palmer. The film will be directed by F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) and is expected to hit theaters sometime during the 2004 holiday season. Next up for the rock is the remake of Walking Tall, co-starring Johnny Knoxville in spring 2004.

New CATWOMAN pics
Superhero Hype scored these new photos of Halle Berry in her Catwoman costume. Unfortunately, these are starting to make the photo TIME released a week ago look pretty good. Remember a few years ago when Tim Burton was planning on directing this project with Michelle Pfeiffer reprising the Catwoman role? Man, that would have been cool.

Obey Lucas
Thanks to yakface.com, a few details are leaking out about an upcoming top secret event being held by Lucasfilm. The press have not been invited to this event, it is for Lucasfilm corporate partners only. The invitation itself is a Darth Vader glued to an acrylic block. An attached metal plate reads:
LORD VADER IS PLANNING A MAJOR ASSAULT.
HE SUMMONS YOU TO SHARE HIS TOP SECRET
BATTLE PLANS.

THE OFFICERS’ CLUB
AT THE PRESIDIO
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
LIGHTSABERS AND BLASTERS MUST BE CHECKED AT THE DOOR.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU
Rumors are circulating like crazy that this has something to do with the oft-rumored release of Star Wars on DVD. Digital Bits had this to say: “With Episode III still nearly two years away from theaters, it’s entirely possible that this meeting is intended to announce the DVD release plan to retailers for next year.”

GODZILLA News
Henshin Online reports that the new Godzilla flick will hit theaters in Japan this Christmas. From what I can decipher the official title is: Godzilla X Mothra X Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS. Toho has just updated the official website and a kick-***censored*** trailer. I love those little Mothra chicks.
Rumors/News about this film include:
• It also includes a brief cameo by Kameba, the giant sea turtle from Yog, Monster From Space.
• Tokyo Tower once again gets destroyed
• Four monsters take on the Big G in the final battle: Mechagodzilla, Mothra and twin Mothra larvae.
• Popular Japanese swimsuit model Miho Yoshioka has been cast as the pilot of the AC-3 White Heron, the plane used to transport Mechagodzilla into battle.
Check out the official poster:
