THE PUNISHER trailer
I’ve held my tongue about this project up until this point, but now that there is actually footage to check out, I have to speak up. This looks terrible! Why is everybody getting so excited about this movie? Just because it’s a Marvel Comics character? Based on this trailer, I can’t believe this is even a theatrical release. It looks like something that should go direct to video, or maybe direct to the USA network.
Check it out and discuss it in the forums.

DONNIE DARKO - Directors Cut
The main difference in the director’s cut will be the addition of a lot of music that the distributors didn’t want to pay for the first time around. They felt the film was too much of a risk, so they cut a lot of the pop music.
“We are hoping to be able to put it all back. It will [contain] a significant number of new songs. That’s in terms of the music, but there are also a lot of the deleted scenes, some of which you can see on the DVD and others that aren’t on the DVD,” Kelly told About.com. “I really feel [they] help expand a lot of the supporting characters, and help clarify a lot of the plot points in the film that might seem a little ambiguous or vague in its current incarnation. I don’t feel that they in any way take away from the intended ambiguity of the film when it comes to certain ideas. It’s tough to talk about all this because it’s pretty complicated stuff, but it’s part of the original design of what it’s intended to be.”
Donnie Darko: The Directors Cut is currently in pre-production at Newmarket films, however it hasn’t been officially announced.
Check out the full article at about.com and learn sketchy details of some of Kelly’s other projects that seem to keep falling in and out of limbo, including Bessie about a “genetically designed, upright walking cow-beast.” Kelly describes it as his King Kong.

Hitch Daily :: 11/03/03
JUST SO YOU KNOW
I’ve still got a slight gin-and-Sprite Remix headache from the Halloween weekend. But the green paint from my Hulk outfit is all gone, except for under my toenails.
DOUBLE CHIP-ARDY
Ashley Judd says there is only way she knows how to deal with stress: baking chocolate chip cookies. But does she eat them? Evidence suggests not.
WHY I’D HATE TO BE ELIZABETH ASHLEY RIGHT NOW
From Leslie comes this amazing coincidence:
“I was up late last night and the reruns of “The Larry Sanders Show” came on Channel 9. Who is the first guest for the show that appears on camera? John Ritter. Then they have a scene where this second scheduled to appear guest verbally abuses John Ritter. Who is this guest? Gene Siskel. They also have a musical guest - a man who plays the piano. Who is this guest? Warren Zevon. Now the fourth guest for this particular show is the actress Elizabeth Ashley. I hope to hell she is still alive or the entire episode would be totally freaky. It still kinda is though, don’t you think?”
AN E-MAIL I RECEIVED THIS MORNING NOT INTENDED FOR ME
“Do you have any male puppies left. Can you send me some pics

OFF THE SHELF
New in trade paperback from Vertigo is The Sandman Presents: Taller Tales,[/url] compiling offshoot stories from the Sandman universe, all by “Fables” creator Bill Willingham. And because they’re from Willingham, they’re all told with tongue planted firmly in cheek. It kicks off with the best of the lot, “Merv Pumpkinhead: Agent of D.R.E.A.M.,” in which, well, a pumpkinhead dreamer plays super-spy, with sardonically hilarious results. It’s followed up with “The Further Adventures of
Danny Nod, Heroic Library Assistant,” the gruesome four-part “Thessaliad” witch saga and the serio-comic vignettes of “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Dreams but Were Afraid to Ask.”
RENT-O-MATIC
All of the animated Batman movies released to video—and there have been a few—are better than either of Joel Schumacher’s live-action Batman films, and now you can add Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman to that ever-growing list. In this feature-length entry, Gotham City is thrown into chaos by the appearance of Batwoman, an enigmatic vigilante figure with no regard for human life. Though he’s unsure on what side her allegiances fall, Batman—with only a little help from
Robin—aims to take her down, even while clues suggest her identity could be one of the women he’s been flirting with, from a blonde techie employee (Kelly Ripa) to a gangster’s sassy daughter (Kimberly Brooks). Throw The Penguin and Bane into the mix and you have another solid, swiftly paced animated actioner rendered in the series’ unmistakable and downright cool Art Deco style. The DVD includes a few making-of extras, but provides a real treat in the new “Chase Me,” an
ingenious, wordless and even sexy cartoon short, in which Batman pursues the slinky Catwoman all over town.
