New PETER PAN trailer

image Okay, it’s been a couple of very slow news days so we are actually resorting to telling you that there is a new trailer up for the live action version of Peter Pan. It’s a pretty cool trailer, but there’s just not much buzz surrounding this film. However… one interesting fact… Tinkerbell is played by none other than Ludivine Sagnier who lounged around beautifully in Swimming Pool.

Box Office Report :: 10/31 - 11/02/03

1.  Scary Movie 3 $21,100,000
2.  Brother Bear $18,500,000
3.  Texas Chainsaw Massacre $10,900,000
4.  Radio $10,200,000
5.  Runaway Jury $6,800,000
6.  Mystic River $6,200,000
7.  Kill Bill Vol. 1 $4,700,000
8.  School of Rock $4,400,000
9.  Intolerable Cruelty $2,600,000
10.  Good Boy! $2,500,000

Scary Movie 3 continued to defy expectations and cling to the top slot at the box office. This brings its cumulative gross to almost $79 million. Disney made the unusual decision of opening Brother Bear on Saturday, to avoid the slow Halloween night at theaters. “Halloween has grown and become such a family experience that we chose not to compete with that on Friday,” said Chuck Viane, head of distribution for Disney. Even with just two days of ticket sales, the critically panned film opened in second place with $18.5 million.

The weekend overall was in a slump due to Halloween, but exas Chainsaw Massacre took advantage of the holiday and held up very well.

Alien: The Directors Cut opened in limited release and grossed an estimated $1.04 million on only 347 screens.

Next Weekend: The weekend starts on Wednesday, with the release of The Matrix Revolutions, then on Friday, Will Ferrell jump starts the holiday season with the eagerly anticipated Elf

HELLBOY site relaunches

image

Just in time for Halloween, Sony has launched a completely revamped Hellboy site. It’s loaded with photos, interview clips, desktops and all the cool stuff you’ve come to expect from a movie site. Don’t miss the character bios which are pretty interesting and will give you a good sense of the flavor you can expect from the film.

SPIDER-MAN 2 teaser

image

image
A tiny glimpse of the Spider-Man 2 teaser poster was released today. I will upload a high-res pic as soon as I get my hands on one. In this tiny version, you can barely make it out, but you can see Doc Ock in the reflection on Spidey’s eye. Advance word is that this movie is going to blow the first one away. I hope so. As much as I like the first film, I think all the Green Goblin scenes are pretty weak. I’m ready for Sam Raimi to really cut loose with this character.

There is a bunch of new stuff up at the official Spider-Man 2 site, including new wallpapers, AIM icons and other kinds of goofball crap to dirty up your computer with.

Hitch Daily :: 10/30/03

imagePAUL IS DEAD (TIRED)
Paul McCartney is a daddy again at the age of 61, as wife Heather Mills gave birth to a boy. The tot has both his legs, one phenomenal trust fund and, judging from this picture, an absolutely incredible breastfeeding experience ahead of him.

I WANT TO BE THE GIRL WITH THE MOST JAIL TIME
What a month it’s been for Courtney Love! First she overdoses, is arrested for two minor drug counts and now arrested again on two counts of illegal possession and having her abilities as a parent questioned! A report asked if things could get any worse for the fabulously overrated singer, to which I say: Yes. She could have Edward Norton back hanging around the house.

I’D PARAPHRASE A LYRIC HERE IF IT WEREN’T SO PAINFUL
The other day while at Best Buy, I had the unfortunate experience of having to hear The Ataris’ cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” (just hearing the original is bad enough in my book). Then, about two hours later, I had the unfortunate experience of hearing it AGAIN at Taco Bell. My shopping and eating experiences were ruined that day.

ILL-ADVISED HEADLINE OF THE MONTH
From a report on Clay Aiken and Rod Stewart’s record sales: “Clay Rams Rod on Chart”
Wait, lemme guess the subhead! “Gallon of Semen Removed in ER”?

TEEVEE TIP
Some Halloween cable programming of note beyond the usual played-to-death (and edited-to-death) movies, all airing sometime tomorrow: “The Haunted History of Halloween” delves into just that (innocent fun or Satan’s birthday?), on the History Channel; Sci-Fi’s “Scare Tactics Halloween Special” revisits the series’ spookiest moments and shows you pranks that went awry; and E!’s “True Hollywood Story” focuses on the making of Wes Craven’s influential smash-hit “Scream.”
