First look at Keanu as CONSTANTINE
Straight to Hell recently scored a few pics of Keanu Reeves as Constantine. Constantine is based on the DC comics series Hellblazer about a hard-drinking, chainsmoking magician detective. The character was originally introduced in the pages of Alan Moore’s classic Swamp Thing series and was then spun off into his own series.
As you can imagine, fanboys went berzerk when they heard Keanu was going to be playing this part. After all, he’s not blonde and he’s not British. However, the director Francis Lawrence assures fans that “the heart of the character, the attitude and the period he invokes is intact, as this was the most important thing for me to maintain.”

Quentin Tarantino’s grindhouse tribute Kill Bill slashed through the competition this weekend, and scoring the biggest opening of Tarantino’s career. Jackie Brown (1997) and Pulp Fiction (1994) each opened at approximately $9.3 million. Exit polls were very strong, with 90% of audiences reporting that they were eager to see Volume 2 which will hit theaters in February. The combined cost for both films is approximately $55 million. I’m sure there was some celebrating by Miramax execs over the weekend.
Jack Black grabbed the #2 slot with his School of Rock slipping only 20% to bring in $15.4 million. School continues to enjoy very positive word-of-mouth.
George Clooney and Cathera Zeta Jones’ Intolerable Cruelty opened in third place with $13.1 million.
Building momentum for it’s wide release next week is the Clint Eastwood directed Mystic River. it opened in 13 theaters and grossed an amazing $45,500 per venue.

TRANSFORMERS!
It seems like some of the most exciting to hit the internet this year has been from the desktop computers of fan-filmmakers and not from the major studios. First there was Batman:Dead End, then the footage from the Linn Brothers Star Wars:Heart of the Rebellion fan feature. Now check out this test clip from a Transformers fan-film. Unfortunately, the film never got completed but the animator, Michael Smith put this test clip on his website and the rest is history. This clips is rumored to be the reason the Transformers motion picture was recently fast-tracked by producers Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto. Hopefully, they will be giving Michael Smith a call.

ETERNAL SUNSHINE Quicktime Trailer and site
Despite the disappointing Human Nature, I am still looking forward to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the new collaboration between Charlie Kaufman(writer) and Michel Gondry (director). The trailer has been floating around for awhile in lousy wmf and realplayer versions, but finally we have scored a link to a nice Quicktime version. This trailer makes me happy every time I watch and not just because Kirsten Dunst dances around in her underwear.

DAWN OF THE DEAD behind the scenes pics
At first it seemed like a re-make of Dawn of the Dead was outright sacrilege. But as details about the film start to trickle out, I begin to have hope. Check out these behind the scenes pics. It really seems like there is going to be a big scope to this movie. And what is Tom Savini doing on set? Was he just paying a visit or does he have something to do with this film?
