CARLITO'S WAY: RISE TO POWER makes a killing
You won’t hear much about the tremendous success of CARLITO’S WAY: RISE TO POWER. Why? Because it is a direct-to-DVD title. According to DVD Exclusive, Universal shipped approximately 1 million units and they are selling out in stores all over the country. As of October 5, RISE TO POWER was the #3 DVD title in overall sales for Best Buy. Virgin stores sold double the number of copies it initially predicted.

Vaginal FOG
AdRants seems to think the creators of this ad are using blatant sexual innuendo. I don’t know what they’re talking about but suddenly I want to see THE FOG.

THIS WEEKEND: Domino, The Fog, Elizabethtown
Three more mid-level flicks hit muliplex screens this weekend. None of them should cause the average moviegoer to get all that excited.
First up, DOMINO. Directed by Tony Scott (MAN ON FIRE) and starring Keira Knightley, I have a feeling this is going to be too stylistic and strange for the average moviegoer. I am looking forward to it a lot and I could be off base. MAN ON FIRE did quite well and has developed a huge following, despite being an ultra-stylistic film. (DOMINO Trailer)

More PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequel news
Lots of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequel news is hitting the web this week. This latest batch comes from director Gore Verbinski who is on a publicity junket for his upcoming movie THE WEATHERMAN. In an interview with IF Magazine he had the following to say about PIRATES 2 and 3.
Gore Verbinski:I’m a quarter of the way through the third one and three quarters of the way through the second one. It’s madness. We’re shooting scenes in the third movie without even knowing what the hell we’re doing. We actually have a pretty good second script and the third script is still on the operating table. And we’re in triage constantly, everyday. I don’t recommend making two movies at once. I think that we’re going to get there, but it’s just madness. I think that the second movie is strong and clever and has a lot going on. The third movie we’re still working on
I did talk to Peter Jackson about it and he said, ‘Re-shoots’. We don’t have time for re-shoots. We don’t have the time. We actually have a story that’s challenging and compelling and dangerous and he [Jack Sparrow] is still the character that gets to weave his way through that story and affect everyone else with his own agenda.

Disney and Pixar together again?
Over the last year, plenty of ink has been spilled on the subject of Disney’s split with Pixar. Previous Disney honcho Michael Eisner made the wrong enemy when he tried to boss Pixar head Steve Jobs around. Jobs ended up breaking off negotiations stating that he would have nothing to do with Disney as long as Eisner was still around. Well, guess what? Eisner is out and Robert Iger is the new head of Disney. Mere weeks after Eisner’s departure comes the announcement that ABC television shows will be available for download via Apple’s iTunes. ABC is owned by Disney in case you missed the connection.
