Asia Argento goes to TRANSYLVANIA
I’ve had a crush on Asia Argento since I first saw her in THE CHURCh (a.k.a. DEMONS 3), so I’m glad to see she is landing some cool projects after the trainwreck of XXX. She has just signed on for a movie titled TRANSYLVANIA which will be directed by Tony Gatlif (EXILS). The film will start production in September. Argento will be seen next in George Romero’s LAND OF THE DEAD.

New Trailer round-up
You may have already seen some of these, but I wanted to point out some cool trailers that hit the web while we were on hiatus.
International BATMAN BEGINS trailer
This is probably the best of all the BATMAN BEGINS trailers yet. It’s the one on the far right with the Bat-shuriken stuck into the wall.
NARNIA trailer
This looks really good until all the CGI madness starts. Maybe the CGI isn’t complete, but it looks like PHANTOM MENACE era stuff. The creatures and production design look awesome though.
THE BAD NEWS BEARS
This one has been up for awhile, but I am really excited about this movie: Billy Bob in BAD SANTA mode, cute kids, sports and Richard Linklater who has already proved he knows this territory with SCHOOL OF ROCK.

New David Lynch film is in the works
I was beginning to wonder if David Lynch was ever going to make another movie, but word is finally starting to circulate about his next project. The film will be titled INLAND EMPIRE and will be produced by StudioCanal. Supposedly, more information will be revealed today, but rumor has it that it involves a film within a film. The film is believed to star Laura Dern, Justin Theroux, Harry Dean Stanton and Jeremy Irons.
“It’s about a woman in trouble, and it’s a mystery, and that’s about all I want to say about it,” Lynch told Variety.

Cannes Film Festival: Day 1
The Cannes Film Festival officially kicked off today. Of course, we don’t have a correspondent covering the festival for you because we are a low-rent site and Cannes wouldn’t clear us for press coverage. So instead, we will be bringing you the best of Cannes coverage from throughout the web.
Green Cinema has a nice dispatch from J. Sperling Reich who discusses LEMMING from director Dominik Moll. which is being shown out of competition.
Cross Hitchcock and M Night Shyamalan and you’re somewhere in the neighborhood. At least Hitchcock knew when to end his films, for the most part. Lemming overstays its welcome as it devolves into madness. Moll was neither upset nor surprised when journalists compared his film to a Hitchcock thriller. “It’s true that I am a great admirer of Hitchcock,” he admitted. “I think when I went to film school and saw all his films I learned a lot from him and his films. So I think it’s natural that you might have the impression that there are similarities in Lemming."
Not much else of note for Cannes Day 1, except that the lovely Salma Hayek is on the jury this year.
David Lynch is rumored to officially announce his next film tomorrow. So come back for details.
