Monsters are coming!!!
Here it is. Theatrical trailer for the latest Miike film, YOUKAI DAISENSOU (BIG SPOOK WAR). It looks freaky. Possibly the best monster film ever. Chiaki Kuriyama of KILL BILL and Naoto Takenaka of WATERBOYS and SWING GIRLS are some of big names who plays monsters in the film. The film will hit big screen on 8-6-2005 in Japan. It looks fantastic but I am waiting for ZEBRAMAN 2. (URL above is for official Japanese site and if you can’t read it, don’t worry. You will see Mindows Media Player logo for trailers. Top two is for teaser and bottm two is for theatrical trailer.)
Seven Swords Director's Cut
According to The Beijing News, one of the summer’s ambitious film, Tsui Hark’s SEVEN SWORDS was originally cut to run about 4 hours. Of course it is too long for theatrical release and Hark was force to cut it down. He and his editor Angie Lam made two additional cuts, one is 150 minute long and the other one is 120 minute long. In the end the 150 minute version was chosen as the theatrical release version. But don’t be disappointed because the 4 hour version will be released on DVD. Tsui Hark’s films have been disapointment after he did some films with Van Damme. Even the all star cast, fantasy film, LEGEND OF ZU was let down. But by the look of the film, there is a high hope for it and hopefully his career will be back on track. SEVEN SWORDS official site.
