California Dreaming No More

image

Hope it isn’t true. According to CRIonline Hong Kong pop super star and actress Faye Wong will soon retire, quitting her singing and a
cting career.  Rumor has it that Faye Wong is planning to tie the knot with her new lover Li Yapeng, a mainland actor. She gave a new life and a new meaning to a song Californina Dreaming in 1994 starring in Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express playing a loopy girl. i can’t listen to that song without picturing her now. And for the game geeks, she is known for singing the theme song for Final Fantasy 8. Her last album came out 2 years ago and last seen in last years Wong Kar Wai’s 2046.

Operetta Ziyi

image
Japan is the only country that SITH hasn’t opened in theaters yet.  But before you feel sorry for them, they have something that here in the US probably won’t be released for a year or two. OPERETTA TANUKI GOTEN is a new musical comedy starring Zhang Ziyi that will sweep the box office starting this weekend. it is a story about a prince falls in love with a racoon dog disgused as a princess.  I assume our readers don’t really need to know anything about this film other than Zhang Ziyi is in it to step our feet in the theater. Cick on a link to view a trailer. Operetta Teaser Trailer

Three Times Shu Qi!

image

THREE TIMES reteams Shu Qi and director Hou Hsian Hsien. they did MILLENNIUM MANBO together. As you know by now it was premiered in Cannes this year. THREE TIMES relates a series of three love stories that take place at different points in time (1966, 1911 and 2005). But characters in each stories are played by the same couple of actors (Shu Qi and Chang Chen). I am one of these people who saw TRANSPORTER and SEOUL RAIDERS just because she was in it. Until it hits theater, we just have to settle with this for now.
