The film MY GIRL AND I starring Cha Tae-hyeon (My Sassy Girl) and Song Hye-kyo will be exported to Japan this Fall. The film is a Korean remake of CRYING OUT FOR LOVE IN THE CENTER OF THE WORLD which was the biggest hit of 2004 in Japan. Well, last year, A MOMENT TO REMEMBER which was based on Japanese TV series was released in Japan and took box office by the storm. Will this has the same sensation as A MOMENT? we’ll find out when the film opens theatrically in Japan this fall. Click on a link below to check out some stills from the film.

Clint Eastwood finally put a cast together for his WWII film FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. Dirty Harry is making two films of the same event, one from American side of the story and the other is, you guessed it, Japanese side of the story. He chose Ken Watanabe (The Last Samuai, Memoirs of a Geisha) to play the lead as well as Shido Nakamura (Ping Pong, Fearless), Ryo Kase (Bright Future).
The film will crank in next week in L.A. The film is planned to open theatrically in August in Japan. Oh, by the way, in case you have forgotten, Paul Walker will star in the American side of the story. 

Zhang Ziyi being a new gangster in MY WIFE IS A GANGSTER 3 was just a rumor. Yeah, that sucks but now Shu Qi is replacing her in the lead for the film. Jo Jin-Gyu who directed the original came out in 2001 will be back in director’s chair and Shu Qi will star as a triad boss daughter who escapes to Korea.
Honestly it really doesn’t matter which one will be in the film. Shu Qi, Zhang Ziyi, how can you make that choice? We will see the film either one of them star in it and this will be no exception.
The film plans to crank in next month. 

Tartan just keep on releasing new stuff, don’t they? And that’s a great thing for folks in the states. How else can we see all those Asian films if not for them (well, and Media Blasters).  They just annouced two new dvd coming out in May. One is Carlos Reygadas’ BATTLE IN HEAVEN. Rouge (a division of Focus) has just announce theaterical release date for Jet Li’s latest FEARLESS in North America. it is scheduled to be released on 08-04-2006. And supposedly they are going for a wide release. So even a small town could be able to get at least one screen in a multiplex. That is a good thing. The film has been a good success in China but that recent request from Huo Zizheng, Huo Yuanjia’s great grandson, causing a bit of trouble. He wants an apology from Jet Li and the studio because parts of the film went too far from the truth.
