David Lynch talks TWIN PEAKS:FIRE WALK WITH ME
David Lynch fans have been salivating for years about the existence of an extended version of TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME. For a more detailed history of the project, check out this article. Basically, a bunch of extended footage exists and a French DVD company wants to release it, but there have been rights-related issues. That may finally be coming to an end.
Now David Lynch has finally commented on the extended edition. In an interview with the French website Telerama, Lynch mentioned the deleted scenes specifically:
David Lynch: I would do this for sentimental reasons. My friend, Jack Nance appeared in one of those deleted scenes. He’s dead now and it would be a great tribute to him.
I’ve wanted to see an extended cut of this movie since the in-depth article Tim Lucas ran in VIDEO WATCHDOG over ten years ago. The article basically reconstructed the film using the screenplay and the deleted footage. An extended cut of this film might allow audiences to see it in a whole new light.
In other Lynch DVD news, DUNE and MULLHOLLAND DRIVE will be 2 of the first films released on the new High Definition DVD format.
