Luchino Visconti at the Cinematheque
LUCHINO VISCONTI’s Films
Yet another series presented by Cinematheque Ontario are the films of Italiam maestro Luchino Visconti. An excellent selection of his films is being screened from July 18th to the end of August.
His films delve often into the theme of men preying on men. They stretch from the simple LA TERRA TREMA about the hardship of fishermen to the extravagant like THE DAMNED that traces the downfall of a wealthy industrialist family during the Third Reich.

Opening The Week of July 18th
THE DARK KNIGHT opens everywhere this week! A ‘must-Seah’ in IMAX. If ‘dark’ is not your cup of tea, MAMMA MIA! might be an alternative, but only if you absolutely love ABBA! (I laughed more during DARK KNIGHT than in MAMMA MIA!
A well made doc opening is the frenzied GONZO about the authur of FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. Also opening is a doc on Muslim gays called A JIHAD FOR LOVE. Kids can opt for SPACE CHIMPS.
