French Films Drought Broken
After a drought of French films, 3 excellent ones hit the screens January. The best of the lot, Cannes Palm d’Or winner ENTRE LES MURS (The Class) opens this week together with the Belgium/France entry RUMBA.
Next week marks the opening of Cédric Klapisch’s PARIS starring Romain Duris.

Opening The Week of Jan 16
A lot of ‘BIG’ films opening this weekend. Of course, that word could mean different things. Firstly, “Notorious”, a biopic on the life of rapper Notorious B.I.G. makes the rounds together with the first big budgeted Bollywood/Hollywood movie “Chandni Chowk to China”.
Another big name film is the 2008 Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Entre Les Murs” (The Class). This one comes with my highest recommendations.

Alliance Films - Canada is Number 2
Alliance Films, Canada’s largest distributor, today announced that its 2008 domestic Canadian box office was $131,600,000 (14% market share) and that its ranking amongst all distributors, including the US major studios, climbed to second place, behind only Paramount Pictures. Alliance improved its position in 2008, moving up in the rankings from third position in 2007.
