SXSW 2005 winners
Once again I missed out on SXSW, but next year I will be there… mark my words. It seems like most of the buzz coming out of this years fest is about HOOLIGANS which is the first film in the history of the fest to nab both Jury and Audience awards. I don’t know much about the film other than that it stars Elijah Wood. Full list of winners after the jump.

SIN CITY Behind-the-Scenes featurette
We still can’t tell you about how SIN CITY is hand-down the best American movie so far this year, but we can point you in the direction of this cool SIN CITY featurette currently up and running at Yahoo. It’s about 10 minutes long and describes how Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller collaborated to bring the graphic novel to life. Check it out.

STAR WARS 3-D
When speaking at the the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas George Lucas announced some of his plans to further milk his already weary STAR WARS franchise. Lucas plans to re-release the films theatrically, but this time in 3-D. He plans to have a 3-D version of A NEW HOPE ready for the 30th anniversary of the film in 2007 and will release the rest of the series after that on an annual basis.

Joss Whedon to write/direct WONDER WOMAN
Joss Whedon, creator of the cult hit TV series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER has signed on to write and direct the big screen WONDER WOMAN for producer Joel Silver.
Whedon told the Hollywood Reporter: “WONDER WOMAN is the most iconic female heroine of our time, but in a way, no one has met her yet. What I love most about icons is finding out what’s behind them, exploring the price of their power. When Joel and I began discussing the character, I realized there is a woman behind the legend who is very fascinating, very uncompromising and in her own way almost vulnerable. She’s someone who doesn’t belong in this world, and since everyone I know feels that way about themselves, the character clicked for me.”
Whedon is currently in post-production on SERENITY, a big-screen version of his failed television series FIREFLY.

SIN CITY advance reviews
Apparently there were some press screenings held for FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY because I’ve received a few e-mail “scoops” offering me review of the movie. Well, I’ve actually already seen it, but I can’t review it until April 1st. It’s an issue with street dates and that kind of thing. If I tell you how awesome this movie is, I might get kicked out of future press screenings and I can’t afford to miss out on free movies. But I can point you to this enthusiastic review of the film. The site is pretty decent too, if you don’t mind scantily clad pictures of Jessica Alba.
A very enthusiastic SIN CITY review.
SIN CITY hits theaters on April 1st, 2005. I will be there on opening day to see it again.
