TOY STORY 3 is back on

TOY STORY 3 is back on

You may remember rumblings of a TOY STORY 3 being created by Disney against the wishes of Pixar. This was during the days when Disney and Pixar were fighting and the Pixar people were really pissed off that Disney had the rights to their creations and was going to make a sequel without their involvement. A few months ago TOY STORY 3 was called off mysteriously. Now it seems like the project was in limbo because of the impending Disney acquisition of Pixar. Now PIxar is a bonafide part of Disney and Pixar CEO Steve Jobs is on the Disney board. He’s also their largest shareholder. What a difference a year makes. With Jobs now wielding so much power it’s no real surprise that according to Bloomberg, TOY STORY 3 is now back in production, but it’s now back at Pixar where it belongs. A lot of Pixar fans were worried about this project geting manhandled at Disney, so it’s nice to now that Buzz and Woody are back where they belong. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will once again provide voices for the characters. The story involves the toys rescuing Buzz from Taiwan after he has been recalled.

* Sharon Stone gets naked and grinds against men while making scary and hilarious facial expressions in the trailer for BASIC INSTINCT 2.

* Not movie related, but check out these crazy Harajuku Girls.

* Trailer for Kanye Wests upcoming music video epic TOUCH THE SKY.

* David Cronenberg’s next movie: MAPS TO THE STARS written by Bruce Wagner

* Wong Kar Wai’s next movie: a flick about Hurricane Katrina that will be shot in New York City.

Like I said… a boring day. My interest in mainstream movies is continuing to wane almost in inverse proportion to my growing love of cinema. Hopefully this will be reflected here in the days to come. If you’ve got something interesting… or know about something interesting… let us know.

James Cameron talks future movie projects

image

Sometimes I wonder if James Cameron is EVER going to make another film. There is always talk of a new project that he is about to start, but then nothing happens. In a brand new interview with BUSINESSWEEK, Cameron does indicate that he is working on a new project and it’s actually one I haven’t heard of yet. It’s called PROJECT 880, and Cameron describes it as “completely crazy, balls-out sci-fi.” The movie will tie-in to a on-line multiplayer game. There is no mention in the article BATTLE ANGEL, which was supposedly going to be Cameron’s next film.

Bryce Dallas Howard bares it all in MANDERLAY

image

If there’s one thing you can definitely expect from director Lars Von Trier - it’s controversy. His upcoming flick MANDERLAY definitely won’t be an exception. It’s the follow-up to DOGVILLE and continues his trilogy of films about America. Like DOGVILLE, MANDERLAY seems to be shot on minimalistic sets which actually look pretty interesting. It is set in the 1930s and focuses on a town where slavery is still legal. The character played by Bryce Dallas Howard travels to the town in an attempt to set things right. Based on the photos that have been leaked, it appears she does this by making some sweet interracial love. Daily Starlet has the pictures. I wonder what Ron Howard is thinking right now. (LINK)
