DICK AND JANE back on track

image
Variety reports that the troubled project Fun With Dick and Jane has found a new director. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) has stepped in to take over for former director Barry Sonnenfeld. Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz will both star. Shooting will not begin until next June when Carrey’s and Diaz’s schedules open up. The film is a remake of a 70’s comedy about a couple who pull heists to pay the bills.

In related news, the obnoxious actress in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation is reportedly based on Cameron Diaz. If so, the actress does a pretty dead-on impression. The two met when Coppola’s estranged husband, Spike Jonze, was filming Being John Malkovich.

On another related note, does anybody remember when Diaz was a lot less annoying and even widely considered to be hot? Now I’d be hard pressed to think of a more annoying celebrity.
