Joker Films

August 30th, 2010 by Gilbert Seah

Weekend Box Office

(Toronto – August 30, 2010) When the celeb-driven Daydream Nation has it’s prestigious world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, it’ll be just another day in the spotlight for Joker Films.  One of the fastest growing entertainment companies, Joker Films, has been behind the Josh Lucas|Andie MacDowell |Kat Dennings starrer from script stage.

The directorial debut by Mike Goldbach is a witty movie about a new girl in school who reveals haunting town secrets while becoming involved in a dangerous teacher/student love triangle.  eOne Films will distribute in Canada, and Joker Films will handle US and foreign.

In recent months Joker Films has distributed the Woody Harrelson superhero spoof Defendor, the “Stone Cold” Steve Austin action film Damage and last year’s festival darling, Rob Stefaniak’s SUCK starring Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, and Moby.

Joker Films enters TIFF with both Daydream Nation and the highly-touted A Night For Dying Tigers. The latter, about a family get-together that devolves into a moral quagmire of regret, reversals, and revelations, is directed by Terry Miles and stars Jennifer Beals, Gil Bellows, Lauren Lee Smith, and Tygh Runyan.

Joker Films also has some TIFF surprises to come, including an announcement about a sequel to one of the most beloved cult films ever.
