82nd Oscar Ceremony

82ND Oscars
No major surprises during the 82nd Academy Award Ceremonies last night. The only tension was who would eventually win the Best Picture Oscar – THE HURT LOCKER or AVATAR? But after THE HURT LOCKER’s director Kathryn Bigelow walked away with the Best Director prize, the clear winner was THE HURT LOCKER. This was a moment of her lifetime. At least James Cameron got the most money for a film in motion picture history. Which person would you rather be?
The ceremony went on efficiently without much incident. No winners were pushed of stage by the orchestra and the show moved fast, wrapping up just after midnight. Nothing spectacular but no complaints too about the co-hosting of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
The biggeest surprise was the Best Best Foreign Film Oscar going to Argentina. THE WHITE RIBBON and UN PROPHETE were the favourites.
Sandra Bullock won both prizes for Worst actress for ALL ABOUT STEVE at the razzies and Best Actress for THE BLIND SIDE last night. Jeff Bridges won for Best Actor. Most presenters used the words: and the winner is instead of the Oscar goes to.... Interesting to note is that Mickey Rourke did not win for Best actor last year in a similar role of a has-been loser. Difference is that THE WRESTLER did not have happy ending as the Jeff Bridges character did in CRAZY HEART.
