THE MAN WHO SAVED THE TAJ MAHAL

A Canadian documentary is going to “Cinema Verite” Iran International Documentary Film Festival (Oct. 16-20/2010) & International Film Festival of India (Nov. 22 to Dec. 2/2010)

THE MAN WHO SAVED THE TAJ MAHAL is a documentary about a man who saved the Taj Mahal from Marble Cancer, caused by acid rain, pollution, and chemical waste around the area.

This is the story of Mr. M.C. Mehta, a lawyer and eco-activist, who single handedly fought with the Indian government in the Supreme Court for 12 years to save the Taj Mahal from Marble Cancer, clean up the air and water around it.

Mr. Mehta did not just stop there.  He went all over India to get all the rivers cleaned, stop burning coal, diesel fuel and dumping of chemical waste in his country.  Bhopal Gas leak of 1984 at the Union Carbide plant that killed over 3000 people was just one example that he was pointing to.

Mr. Mehta dreams India to be a pollution free country.  This documentary is about his dreams while his struggle continues.

The documentary was commissioned by Sun TV of Toronto and will air later this year.

Besides the Taj Mahal documentary Bajaj Films is pleased to announce that we have shot three more films this year.  THE HAPPY PALS another one hour TV concert film commissioned by Sun TV, and co-financed by Canadian Media Fund was completed last week.  It’ll also air later in the season.

FUN ARRIVED (ASH AA GAYI) is a 85 mins campy, fun & horror film shot in Goa, India early this year.  Presently it’s in the final phase of post production.

WE AIN’T RICH OR FAMOUS BUT WE’RE THE HAPPY PALS is a longer feature documentary version, which tells the background history of 40 years of The Happy Pals playing in Toronto’s China town, in the same tavern.  Presently the film is in post and we hope to bring it out for Hot Docs 2011.
All the above films are produced by Bajaj Films of Toronto; more information and photos can be down loaded from Bajajfilms.com or Bajaj films productions ltd. on the Facebook.
