Blaze at Pinewood Studios

July 30th, 2006 by Chris Blagden

21'st James Bond 007 outing

In the UK, Pinewood Movie Studio’s centre stage, housing the production sets for the latest James Bond film ‘Casino Royale’, was engulfed by fire on Sunday.

Fortunately thus far there have been no reports of anyone being injured.
According to the news reports, the blaze was so extensive, that it caused the roof fall in on itself causing severe damage to the facilities and props inside the studio.

The James Bond stage at Pinewood had been used as a film set to recreate scenes from the Italian city of Venice for the 21’st James Bond 007 outing. Filming on Casino Royal just finished at Pinewood and the film sets were still assembled and in place.

This is the second major fire at Pinewood in 22 years. The cause of the Casino Royale blaze at the studios is under investigation.
