Eli Roth's HOSTEL gets sequelized
January 10th, 2006 by Cinema Eye
After it’s very successful opening weekend, Lionsgate has already announced a sequel to HOSTEL. The movie earned $20 million dollars on a $5 million investment, so a sequel was pretty much inevitable. Lionsgate plans to release the sequel next year - hoping for another SAW level franchise success. While HOSTEL is an immeasurably better movie than SAW, it doesn’t seem like the type of project with great sequel potential. No word yet on whether Eli Roth will direct the sequel. (Yes, for all of those who went to see this movie thinking Quentin Tarantino directed it—Eli Roth is the director. CABIN FEVER is his first movie—check it out!) (Via: Variety)
