First Weekend Club Launches Fundraising Campaign to Help Develop a Curated Video-On-Demand Streaming Service Featuring the Best in Canadian Film
Vancouver, BC — Great Canadian film is out there...and First Weekend Club wants to share it with as many people as possible.
This is why, after promoting the theatrical releases for over 150 films, they are moving into a new frontier: The online world. First Weekend Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for great Canadian films since 2003, wants to make them available to anyone, no matter where they are, at any time of day. To do just that, First Weekend Club is launching a video-on-demand streaming platform, which will feature a curated library of the very best Canadian films available.
To turn this dream into reality, First Weekend Club needs to raise $20,000 and will be using the popular Indie GoGo crowd funding platform to help reach that goal. Aside from supporting First Weekend Club’s cause, donors will have a chance to get some ‘perks’ too. First Weekend Club has turned to friends in the film community and has some great rewards such as film passes, Master Classes, autographed DVDs, a semi-private dinner and movie experience with two of Canada’s most renowned filmmakers, and more! There are perks and rewards for all levels of support, from $5 to $5000. With a contribution of $50, supporters can even buy a personalized seat in First Weekend Club’s virtual cinema, be invited to test drive the new VOD system, and have the opportunity to offer feedback through a private discussion group. They will also get an invitation to attend our online launch where First Weekend Club will stream a Canadian film live from Vancouver, with a live audience including the filmmakers and stars.
