FLETCH WON gets greenlight

August 14th, 2003 by Cinema Eye

Variety reports that Kevin Smith is finally going to get his chance at making a Fletch prequel. Smith’s long-time choice for the role, Jason Lee, is off the project considered too unbankable by Miramax. Smith’s short list of candidates for the role includes Ben Affleck(of course), Will Smith(?), Brad Pitt(hm...), Adam Sandler(maybe) and Jimmy Fallon(gag!). Smith also says he will be using Stephen Soderbergh’s adaption of OUT OF SIGHT as a model for this project. Shooting begins in January.

After wrapping up Fletch Won, Smith will move on to his first science fiction project entitled, Ranger Danger and the Danger Rangers.
