And Announces the Broadcast Dates for Award Winning YoungCuts Films
High Fidelity HDTV is proud to be the title sponsor of the YoungCuts Opening Night Gala. And the Canadian-based specialty-channel broadcasting company - which broadcasts continuous true High Definition content - will express its commitment to YoungCuts by broadcasting films from three of the festival’s outstanding young filmmakers.
Now in its sixth year, the YoungCuts Film Festival is an extraordinary event showcasing talented filmmakers, aged 25 and under, from around the world. Each year, YoungCuts discovers amazing new talent. This year, the festival will present 100 short films at Montreal’s Cinema du Parc from August 15 to 21.
The 2008 YoungCuts Film Festival kicks off with the High Fidelity HDTV Opening Night Gala to benefit the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada (CCAC). The gala takes place Thursday August 14, 2008 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Montreal’s La Coupole Restaurant, located at 1100 de la Montagne (in the Hotel Crystal). Proceeds from this year’s gala will directly benefit the CCAC’s mission of promoting awareness and education, providing support to patients and families, and advocating for a colorectal cancer screening policy and access to effective treatment.
During the Opening Night Gala, Bon Cop, Bad Cop producer Kevin Tierney will speak to event attendees, and High Fidelity HDTV will be premiering high definition programming that YoungCuts filmmakers have created for national broadcast.
“We are pleased and proud to be part of the YoungCuts Festival,“ says High Fidelity HDTV’s Ken Murphy. “There couldn’t be a better way to showcase the talent of independent young Canadian filmmakers than to give them access to Canadian viewers. Airing these select projects will give these up and coming stars a chance to share their voice.”
Winners from last year’s YoungCuts Film Festival will have a special showing this week on High Fidelity HDTV’s Suite of Four Channels:
