House of the Dead site killed

August 27th, 2003 by Cinema Eye

Fangoria reported today that the MPAA has clamped down on the official House of the Dead website even though it has been up for ages. Apparently, the site was deemed too disturbing as it featured a number of “extremely gory” stills. The trailer is still available for download here.

The MPAA has jurisdiction over a movies promotional materials and that jurisdiction extends to websites. This is prompting many studios to “leak” materials onto the net, as is currently happening with a number of bootleg trailers for Cabin Fever.

Studios should feel free to leak any extremely gory, disturbing or overtly erotic material to Cinema Eye.
