Inside Out 2010 News

May 3rd, 2010 by Gilbert Seah

Weekend Box Office

Inside Out is pleased to announce that RBC, in their second year of partnership with the Festival, has increased their commitment and signed on as the Presenting Sponsor of the 20th anniversary Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival.

”I am pleased RBC chose to increase their investment in the creative vision and artistic programming of our Festival,” Inside Out Executive Director Scott Ferguson says. “RBC’s involvement in the 2009 Festival was a great success and this larger level of support as Presenting Sponsor has helped us expand our programming and support more artists for our anniversary Festival.”

RBC and Inside Out have entered into a multi-year commitment that designates the financial institution as the Presenting Sponsor of the Festival through to the 2012 Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival. In addition to their commitment to the Festival, RBC’s support extends to the organization’s video mentorship program, the Legacy Video Project, in which professional artists mentor first-time filmmakers through four months of workshops to learn video production and produce their first short film.

“RBC is proud to step up our support to presenting sponsor of this year’s 20th Inside Out Festival because we recognize the power of artistic expression in helping to foster an inclusive environment that brings out the best in everyone,” said Jennifer Tory, Regional President, Greater Toronto Region, RBC. “Inside Out has become more than a festival, securing a place in our city’s cultural fabric. This festival continues to create an environment to celebrate diversity, a venue to exchange ideas and a dedicated space for the LGBT community to showcase the talents of emerging filmmakers.”

RBC will be front and centre at the 2010 Festival beginning with the Opening Gala presentation of Howl, by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Robert Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Times of Harvey Milk), on Thursday May 20 at the Isabel Bader Theatre.

This Sunday Inside Out will host an official Launch Party and Silent Auction at Canada’s National Ballet School, 400 Jarvis St., with an exclusive V.I.P. preview at 6:00pm. Doors open to public at 7:00pm.
