Iodine DVD out July 6th
June 29th, 2010 by Gilbert Seah
Iodine stars Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks,” Robocop) and Mike Stasko (Things To Do), and is the acting debut for singer-songwriter Jason Collett (Broken Social Scene). The film is the directorial debut for Mike Stasko, who also wrote the screenplay.
The film tells the story of John Clem (Mike Stasko), who goes searching for his missing Father in Northern Ontario after he receives a frantic call from his sister. During his search John runs into a mysterious man, Avery (Ray Wise), who could have something to do with John’s father’s disappearance.
“A deeply metaphysical and reflective film as expressed through gripping dialogue...” says Sylvain Richard of Arts & Opinion, and Norman Wilner of Now Magazine calls Iodine “a cult movie in the making”. The film was shot on the South Magnetewan River, just north of Parry Sound, Ontario and the rugged Canadian shield provides more than a setting, the stunning landscape is a central character in the film.
Iodine was an Official Selection in Montreal’s 2009 World Film Festival, and won Silver in the First Feature category at the 2010 WorldFest – Houston Remi Awards Competition. The film has recently screened in theatres Toronto, Windsor, Parry Sound, and Barrie.
