Kurt Russell returns in 'Escape From Earth'
August 7th, 2006 by Chris Blagden
Reputedly a high level meeting was held at film studios ‘Paramount’ last week betweens studio execs and director/scriptwriter John Carpenter and actor Kurt Russell.
The meeting agenda was to talk very seriously about the prospect of bringing back Snake Plissken to the big screen, essentially the third movie in the Snake Plissken film series.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Snake Plissken is one of Kurt Russell’s most famous big screen action characters who first arrived in cinema way back in 1981 with the famous ‘Escape from New York.’
In the first film, which was set in the then future of 1998, the US President crashes into Manhattan, which is now a giant security prison, and Snake Plissken is sent in to bring him out alive.
Entitled ‘Escape From Earth’, John Carpenter produced a script for the new movie some eight years ago but the studio has only now taken an interest in it after Kurt Russell insisted on doing it before signing on with the studio for a three picture deal.
The ‘Escape’ series are set on a dark, bleak Earth, far removed from the world we know today. Over the years Snake Plissken has become an icon in modern Sci Fi Cinema and a return to the big sceen is certain to arouse significant interest.

Seems this is nothing but a false rumor.

Escape from Earth? You never know. Would love to see him back in those leathers again ooohhh.. I believe Kurt fitted into the same leathers in Escape from LA as he did in Escape from New York, 15 years apart. Not many men would be able to do that, that’s for sure. Could he do it again, guess we’ll find out - maybe.
