LIFT Announces Spring Artist Residency Screening
Enrico Mandirola Presents Two New Films and Artist Talk
Toronto, March 8, 2011 — Since early March 2011 Bogotá based filmmaker Enrico Mandirola has been in residence at the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). During his stay Enrico has produced two new films on 16mm in collaboration with LIFT and Niagara Custom Lab. These new films include El cuento a 30 minute 16mm reflection on war and the short A l’aube. The screening will be followed by an artist talk regarding his film practice, technical methods and experiences producing films in Europe, Latin America and Toronto.

Enrico Mandirola studied cinema at the University of Turin (dams). He lives in Bogotá, Colombia where he works and researches methods of experimental cinema. Enrico co-created the first laboratory for handcrafted Super 8mm cinema in Colombia, KinoLab (http://www.kinolab.co.cc). He is a member of the Association L’Abominable in Paris, an artist run film laboratory dedicated to the methods of “Argentique” cinema (http://www.l-abominable.org). He is a member of Cineparallax, a French independent cinema production company, and has collaborated on various film projects as director of photography (http://www.cineparallax.com). His films have screened at many festivals and galleries such as the Torino Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, Mexicali Video Gallery, and the Centre George Pompidou. Enrico’s film Monica is distributed by the French Cooperative Lightcone in Paris (http://www.lightcone.org).
