LOVE ETC. (USA 2011) **
Directed by Jill Andresevic
Executive produced by Jonathan Tisch, LOVE ETC. was inspired by the day Tisch and his fiancée Lizzie spent waiting in line for their marriage license at the City Hall Marriage Bureau, surrounded by an incredible diversity of couples. LOVE ETC. is a witty and poignant exploration of the universal stages of love, depicted through five real stories filmed over the course of one year in New York City. The topics include first love, divorce, marriage among others.
The problem with this movie is the over easy flowingness of the material. For one, who made Tisch or director Andresevic experts on this topic? Shouldn’t thy talk to real experts, maybe psychologists or counselors on what really love is? The five couples could have behave in any way and the film would have been left the way it is. What occurs on screen is occasionally interesting enough – whatever happens in real life is never boring – and Andresevic’s film is moving at times, especially in the gay man’s determination to have children. But the Indian Wedding and divorcee segments turn out the most boring. But the audience could very well observe other couples in the process. And have learnt just as little!

Who needs experts to talk about love ??? Now THAT would have been boring !!! The film is exactly what people need to see....love seen by real people. As far as I am concerned we can all relate on some level. Love ETC is a breath of fresh air.
Love is by far the most fulfilling emotion as it is the most stressfull. It’ll give you the strength as it’ll leave you vulnerable.
passion will bring insanity and wisdom together for it generate one another.
In a loving passion, the issue is not Love per se but the inter-relashionshiip of the individuals involved and in love. The surrondings (family, friends, work and living environment) becomes a battlefield from which victory and defeat come hand in hand.
For whomever lived in NYC long enough to experience LOVE in such a vibrant and oppressing city will understand and relate to this movie-documentary.
LOVE ETC> is all that and when I left the theatre, I left with emotions of lightness and hope, Maybe exagerated for some but it reminded me, in a much less dramatic setting, “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” of Kundera.
I very much enjoyed LOVE ETC. for it is an exposed experience to love and not a philosophical or psychological class. When Love is the topic, I don’t need a scientific approach and lesson but a sharing of emotions. And that’s what LOVE ETC. is.
Thank you Jonathan Tisch and Jill Andresevic

I loved this movie! I thought the real-life stories illustrated true love beautifully - commitment, compromise & devotion. Who would want to listen to ‘experts’ on love?
I am a psychologist in New York City with 34 years of experience working with couples who consulted with Jill Andresevic throughout the process of making this film. Having been recognized by The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy for my innovative programs used throughout the world, I would consider myself an expert in love and relationships. Ms. Andresevic’s portrayal of love provides the audience with an emotional experience that is meaningful, deep, and profound. Today’s couples are often distracted by talking and intellectualizing about love rather than participating in a moving, intimate emotional experience. Love Etc. takes you on an emotional journey that will allow you to feel a deeper connection to love...a connection that could never have been achieved with a more didactic approach.
I submitted a comment last night in response to the above review and am wondering when it may be published. Will I be contacted?
Dear Doctor,
I thank you very much for your valuable comment, Dr. Schweiger. I have to censor the comments before publishing as we get a lot of nasty and rude ones. We had a lot of comments on this film and some mentioning the futility of experts. Those, were also very rude and I don’t think worth publishing. I am glad an expert like you responded and I thank you.
