Marlon Brando resurrected for SUPERMAN V
March 10th, 2005 by Cinema Eye
The rumors are TRUE. Marlon Brando, who played Jor-El (Superman’s dad) in the original SUPERMAN movie has been cast as Jor-El in SUPERMAN V. “But, he’s dead!” you argue. Thanks to the miracles of modern technology that is no longer a problem.
SUPERMAN V director Bryan Singer plans on using a combination of stock footage and CGI to allow the actor to reprise his role. He will be primarily be using footage that was shot for SUPERMAN II but later cut from the movie after a contract dispute between Brando and the producers. The scene was reshot for that film using the mother instead. Here’s a photo from the deleted scene via Latino Review.

Singer also plans to use other elements from the original films including the design for Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.
