New Package and Extra Day for TIFF this year

An extra day of films and a new ticket package feature help film lovers get the most out of the festival.

The Toronto International Film Festival returns for its 35th year with a new Festival Box Office location at 363 King Street West , opening August 24. New features include a ticket package that celebrates Canadian film, a refined definition of Premium Screening that offers red carpet experiences at multiple venues, and a chance for film lovers to experience TIFF Bell Lightbox, the Festival’s new year-round home. The Festival will run for an additional day this year, offering audiences the opportunity to see even more films.

The Festival is pleased to partner with Roy Thomson Hall for the 16th year as it hosts Opening Night, Closing Night and Gala Presentations. The Visa Screening Room, located at the Elgin Theatre, once again hosts Special Presentations and other Premium Screenings. Additional returning cinemas include: AMC 24 at Yonge & Dundas, Cineplex Odeon Varsity Cinemas, the Isabel Bader Theatre at Victoria College on the grounds of the University of Toronto , the Winter Garden Theatre, Jackman Hall at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Ryerson Theatre at Ryerson University . Scotiabank Theatre Toronto returns for public, press and industry screenings. The National Film Board of Canada Mediatheque returns for press and industry screenings during the Festival and for pre-Festival press screenings. New this year, TIFF Bell Lightbox will be host to public screenings during the Festival.

Beginning today, ticket packages are available to Visa† cardholders and can be purchased online 24 hours a day at tiff.net/thefestival, by phone Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 416-968-FILM or 1-877-968-FILM, and in person at the TIFF Box Office at 2 Carlton Street, West Mezzanine. Tickets are available for purchase beginning July 12 for Visa, cash and debit payments.

NEW TICKET PACKAGES

· Selected by TIFF programmers, The Canadian Pack offers film lovers exposure to Canadian talent with a selection of five new Canadian films.

· To celebrate the opening of TIFF’s new home and to offer a taste of upcoming year-round programming, all TIFF Choice Packs – packages put together by TIFF programmers – include a TIFF Bell Lightbox Voucher good for a free screening at TIFF Bell Lightbox after the Festival.

NEW DEFINITION OF PREMIUM SCREENING

The Festival has refined the definition of a Premium Screening to include screenings that are World or North American premieres and offer a premium experience including a red carpet event. Premium Screenings will take place at multiple venues.

IMPORTANT DATES

July 5 through July 11:

Visa cardholders can order ticket packages online at tiff.net/festival, by phone at 416-968-FILM or toll-free at 1-877-968-FILM, and in-person at the TIFF Box Office at 2 Carlton St., as of 10 a.m. ET.

Beginning July 12:

Visa, cash and debit sales of ticket packages begin as of 10 a.m. ET.

August 24:

The Advance Order Book, for selecting films within My Choice Packs, Programme Book and the Official Film Schedule will be available at the Festival Box Office at 363 King St. West as of 10 a.m. The Film Schedule is available online at tiff.net/thefestival

August 30:

Completed Advance Order Books for select My Choice Packs are due by 1 p.m. ET at the Festival Box Office at 363 King St. West for entry into the Advance Order Draw.

Beginning September 2:

Ticket package pick up and exchange begins.

Beginning September 3:

Single tickets à la carte are available for purchase beginning at 7 a.m. ET from the Festival Box Office at 363 King St. West , by phone at 416-968-FILM or 1-877-968-FILM, and online at tiff.net/thefestival (subject to availability).
