Last Train Home - at Docs Soup
January 19th, 2010 by Gilbert Seah
LAST TRAIN HOME AT DOC SOUP January 20th.
Lixin Fan’s LAST TRAIN HOME from Canada is the documentary chosen for the monthly Wednesday Doc Soup series at the Bloor Cinema, Toronto.
The film centres on the Zhang family. The backdrop is the 130 million Chinese who travel every lunar New Year from the cities where they work to reunite with their families. They take the train or whatever possible alternative transportation. The film is portrayed by the Zhangs themselves. See capsule review in the review section of the site.
Advance tickets for the 6:30 pm Doc Soup screening of LAST TRAIN HOME have sold out! Winner of Best Feature-Length Documentary at this year’s IDFA International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, LAST TRAIN HOME is produced by the team behind 2008’s UP THE YANGTZE and has been called “exceptional… stunningly photographed and expertly constructed.” Advance tickets are still available for the 9:15 pm screening, and limited tickets for both screenings will be available at the door beginning at 5:30 pm. LAST TRAIN HOME screens next Wednesday at the Bloor Cinema.
