Quentin Tarantino update

The Ultimate Jason Voorhees movie? Inglorious Bastards? Kill Bill uncut? We’ve got updates on all of it!

First, Quentin Tarantino is NOT directing the next Friday the 13th movie. Regular readers will remember that I called bullshit on this one the day the rumor hit the net. In a recent interview, he told Empire Online: “"What’s happening with Friday the 13th? Nothing at all. It’s a complete lie. I like Jason and everything, but I’ve no intention of directing a movie. New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. “I would love to do a horror film. I’m just saying it’s not going to be Friday The 13th.”

Tarantino’s next feature will instead by INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, the World War II film that has been talked about for years. Many thought his would be Tarantino’s followup to JACKIE BROWN. Now he plans to push forward on this ambitious project,” the director told Empire. “My next film is probably going to be Inglorious Bastards. I’ve written scenes. I’ve written a lot of it but now I have to sit down and start putting it together in a script that I can start shooting. And that’s a different thing.”

The Sun reports that Tarantino will be releasing the complete KILL BILL later this year. “ “It will be Kill Bill the Japanese version - the four hour movie all together with an intermission in the middle. It will probably be the first release from Miramax’s new company, first at cinemas and then on DVD. It will also probably get a higher age rating,” Tarantino told The Sun. “We had to cut it when Miramax was part of Disney but now we can do whatever the ***censored*** we want.”

In the same interview Tarantino also talked about his favorite films of 2004. SHAUN OF THE DEAD was at the top of the list, followed by THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. “I think THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is one of the most magnificent directing jobs I’ve seen in my life. I hadn’t seen a movie bring back the imagery of silent cinema until that film,” said Tarantino. “I also loved BEFORE SUNSET, THE INCREDIBLES, TEAM AMERICA, OLD BOY, FAHRENHEIT 9/11 and HAROLD AND KUMAR GET THE MUNCHIES.”
