Real Panda

KUNG FU PANDA 2 star Jack Black, Atlanta Zoo veterinarian Dr. Hayley Murphy and the Atlanta Zoo’s newly named giant panda cub Po_ at the traditional Chinese naming ceremony, complete with dragon dance, which was held on February 15, 2011.  Raymond King, the President and CEO of Zoo Atlanta and Georgia Governor Nathan Deal were also in attendance.

WHAT:  The only Giant Panda cub born in North America in 2010 will be named on February 15, 2011, in an extraordinary event unlike any other ever hosted by Zoo Atlanta. 

WHO:  The 100 Day Giant Panda Cub Celebration featured a surprise appearance by Jack Black as well as the following guests: Governor Nathan Deal, Chief of Staff Candice Byrd, Raymond King (President and CEO, Zoo Atlanta), Dr. Hayley Murphy (Director of Veterinary Services, Zoo Atlanta), and Dr. Rebecca Snyder (Curator of Mammals, Zoo Atlanta).
