Veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back) has been hired to write Robotech Warner Bros fresh adaptation of the anime classic, Robotech.

Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are also involved, working as the films producers along with actors Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.

’Robotech’ was a cartoon series that aired in the 1980’s.

Robotech takes place at a time in the future when following the crashing of an alien spaceship, Earth has developed remarkable giant robots from the salvaged technology. Later in time humanity is forced to use the scavenged and adapted tech to defeat waves of alien invaders.

Earth’s very prospects for survival along with all the inhabitants of the planet hinge on the skills two young pilots charged with helming the new technology and defending the planet.
