Christian Bale is BATMAN
It’s official. In a press release, Warner Brothers announced today that Christian Bale will be playing BATMAN in the upcoming movie. “What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for,” said director Chris Nolan. The new BATMAN film will begin filming early next year.
PIRATES 2 is a go
Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel is already in the works. Yes, we have Johnny Depp already lined up. We just made a deal with the writer who did the re-write of the first Pirates. Let’s hope we can do better than Bad Boys 2. It took me eight years to get that to the screen. We’ll make this much quicker,” said Bruckheimer. Source: Latino Review
BROWN BUNNY gets applause in Toronto
The film Roger Ebert called the worst ever to screen at the Cannes Film Festival actually earned applause at the Toronto Film Festival. A re-edited version if Vincent Gallo’s much re-viled The Brown Bunny screened to an appreciative audience when it screened Tuesday. This still didn’t stop Gallo from blazing out of town days ahead of schedule and leaving Chloe Sevigny to handle the bulk of the promotions for the film. Source: The Toronto Star
Wilson brothers team up for new project
Call me gay, but I love the Wilson brothers and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Bottle Rocket is one of my all-time favorite movies and each time I watch it I like it a little bit more. Now the Wilson brothers are both much bigger stars and they are using their clout to return to their quirky indie roots. They are currently shooting a new project in Austin entitled The Wendell Baker Story. The film focuses on an ex-con (Luke Wilson) who gets a job in a retirement home. He befriends three elderly residents who help him get his girlfriend back. He also helps the old coots in their battle with the corrupt head nurse(Owen Wilson). The film is co-written by Luke and Owen and will be co-directed by Luke and their older brother Andrew (Future man!). The make this even more of a family affair, their mom Laura Wilson is the still photographer for the film. Rounding out the cast are Harry Dean Stanton, Eva Mendes, Eddie Griffin, Will Ferrell, Kris Kristofferson and Seymour Cassel. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
