This Week's Film Reviews (Nov 16th)
November 16th, 2007 by Gilbert Seah
Films reviewed this week:
L’Avocat de la Terreur
Before the Devil Knows You are Dead
Beowulf
Breakfast with Scot
La Chinoise
Citizen Duane
Love in the time of Cholera
Redacted
Of all the films opening this week, the biggest hype is “Beowulf”. Done in 3-D and shown in 3-D IMAX or 3-D Digital, the theatres are not worried about illegal camcording, as you can’t copy 3-D on the computers. But the best film opening is Brian De Palma’s “Redacted”, a disturbing film done correctly on the Iraqi war. 83-year old Sidney Lumet also proves to be in top form with “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”. Two Canadian comedies open as well.
