TIFF Nexus presents Locative Media Innovation Day
TIFF Nexus is an exciting new initiative that will bring together Canada’s game, digital, and interactive media communities in conferences and creative jam-sessions to meet, share ideas, and prototype new gaming experiences, equipping a new generation of Ontario storytellers with the network, skills and partners that they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving and growing digital media landscape. Presented as an Innovation Day in partnership with Digifest 2011, the first TIFF Nexus conference will explore emerging themes and practices in locative and mobile media as well as showcase the results of the Peripherals initiative creative jam. Susan Ray on Nicholas Ray
As our Hollywood Classics series pays tribute to the great director Nicholas Ray on the occasion of his centenary, we are honoured to welcome his widow and collaborator Susan Ray to present a restored version of their groundbreaking collective feature We Can’t Go Home Again, which recently played at the Venice and New York film festivals. Mrs. Ray returns later to introduce the screening of her late husband’s classic film Bitter Victory.

October 27 to 30: Fright Nights: Guillermo del Toro Does Halloween
To celebrate Halloween, TIFF and Rue Morgue Magazine present five nights of sensational horror headlined by Academy Award®-nominated director Guillermo del Toro. The visionary horror-fantasy filmmaker has selected three of his favourite horror films to complement the screenings of his own films. He will also appear on October 27 at TIFF Bell Lightbox for an In Conversation With… session.

In Conversation With… Kim Cattrall
From her unforgettable role as Samantha Jones in the groundbreaking HBO series Sex and the City to her work with such major directors as Brian De Palma, John Boorman and Roman Polanski, award-winning stage, film, and television actress Kim Cattrall has played some of the strongest female characters ever seen onscreen, and has also been passing on her craft on to the next generation as a mentor for the Actor’s Conservatory at the Canadian Film Centre. Co-presented with the Canadian Film Centre, TIFF Bell Lightbox welcomes Kim Cattrall for a special evening to look back on her multifaceted career.

TIFF’s Canadian Open Vault programme is part of TIFF’s efforts to make our country’s rich cinematic heritage more accessible to audiences.
