Books on Film Club February 7 – June 27, 2011 TIFF Bell Lightbox
Toronto – For lovers of cinema and literature alike, TIFF Bell Lightbox introduces Books on Film Club, presented in association with Random House of Canada. CBC’s Eleanor Wachtel hosts post-screening conversations with filmmakers, authors and experts to examine these exceptional films that began as outstanding novels.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring to our audiences guests with a vast range of knowledge, passion and experience in the art of adapting brilliant literature into outstanding films,” said Shane Smith, Director of Public Programmes, TIFF. “And who better to connect these works and guests with Toronto audiences than one of Canada’s most celebrated writer-broadcasters, CBC’s Eleanor Wachtel.”
“Books that are made into films have the opportunity to reach new audiences and showcase an author’s work in a new and original way,” says Brad Martin, President & CEO, Random House of Canada. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with TIFF on the Books on Film Club series.”
Eleanor Wachtel is the host of CBC Radio’s “Writers & Company” and “Wachtel on the Arts” on IDEAS. She has interviewed a wide range of international authors and filmmakers and has published four books, including Original Minds.
