To honour the time of reflection between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the Toronto Jewish Film Festival is proud to offer the Canadian premiere of the recent Israeli film, Bruriah directed by Avraham Kushnir, at a special screening, proudly kicking off the 18th year of the TJFF.
The film, a contemporary re-telling of a little-known biblical tale, will be introduced by Rabbi Tina Grimberg of Congregation Darchei Noam. Paralleling a battle of the sexes from the second century, a modern-day Bruriah sets out on a personal crusade during which she faces the compromises she has made in her life, her desires, and her limitations. Her quest ultimately penetrates and creates turmoil in the life of her religious Jerusalem family.
Bruriah will be screened at the Varsity 3 on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available for purchase online and by phone (416-324-9121) starting September 9th, as well as at the box-office an hour before the screening.
Bruriah will be screened at the Cineplex Odeon Varsity Cinemas, 55 Bloor St., West, on Wednesday September 23, at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $18 and available for purchase from the Toronto Jewish Film Festival website http://www.tjff.com and by phone (416-324-9121), as well as at the box-office an hour before the screening.
