Sony has acquired the North American distribution rights to the two most recent Godzilla movies Godzilla-Mothra-King Ghidorah and Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus. Henshin online reports that Sony is moving quickly with distribution plans for these films. Both films recently screened at the American Cinematheque’s Egyption Theatre in Hollywood as well as at summer conventions.

Since most of you probably couldn’t make it to those screenings, you will be glad to learn that both films will air on the Sci Fi Channel on Sunday August 31. GxM will air at 3pm followed by GMK at 5pm. The Sci Fi Channel will be airing the dubbed English language versions as well as a bunch of other Mothra and Godzilla movies as part of a Monster Movie Marathon.

Sony has further plans for both flicks, including a possible limited theatrical run before widescreen DVD releases.
