The FEED :: September 8, 2003
THE FEED is a no-frills constantly updated feed of information. This is a brand-new feature that is part of the constant tinkering we are doing to improve Cinema Eye. Check back throughout the day for the latest news.
MIRAMAX to distribute ZATOICHI
Harvey Weinstein fell in love with Takeshi Kitano’s ZATOICHI at the Toronto International Film Festival last weekend and ended up buying North American distribution rights. Miramax has kind of a lousy track record with Asian films. Hopefully they will actually release this sometime in the near future and hopefully it will be without a rap soundtrack.

HERO to get theatrical release
According to the MIRAMAX website, it looks like HERO might be getting a Winter theatrical release after all. Who knows with these guys though…
SPIDER-MAN 2 spoiler
Aint It Cool News reports that The Lizard will be making an appearance in the film. While it was already known that Dr. Curt Connors would be appearing in the film, speculation was that his alter-ego The Lizard wouldn’t appear until Spider Man 3. The report comes from a French magazine interview with Steve Johnson who is supervising the transformation effects for the film.
Will Ferrell meets The Woodman
Variety reports that Will Ferrell is replacing Robert Downey Jr. in Woody Allen’s next flick.
ALIEN:THE DIRECTOR’S CUT trailer
Filmforce is hosting an exclusive trailer for the upcoming ALIEN re-release. The new version will contain footage that was cut from the 1979 release including a supposedly horrific sequence that involves Ripley’s discovery of what happened to Captain Dallas and engineer Brett.
UNDERWORLD music video
To get you primed for the September 19th release of UNDERWORLD, Sony has released a music video from the band Finch. The song is pretty sucky, but there is some cool footage from the movie including a glimpse of a werewolf transformation. The song may suck, but the video has heightened my hopes for this movie.
