Notorious filmmaker John Waters is back in gross-out-audience territory. You know something is amiss when he begins his film with soothing music as his camera scans the perfect manicured lawns of his idyllic Baltimore town. LET’S GO SEXING! is what happens when residents of the town get hit hard on the head resulting in a change of sexual liberties.
The film centers on sexually repressed housewife, Sylvia Stickles (Tracey Ullman) and then weaves to accommodate a host of other town folk played by an impressive cast that includes Selma Blair and Chris Isaak. That is as much as can be said for the plot. The film then degrades into a catalogue of sex perversions, rude one-liners and vulgar props like oversized breasts and assorted fetishes. All this disgustingness eventually gets terribly boring. The climatic battle between good and evil does not work at all either. All this is A DIRTY SHAME.
Waters has been trying to top his early low-budget PINK FLAMINGOS and FEMALE TROUBLE with his last couple of films and has failed miserably. It is about time he tried different material. The web trailer is more fun, shorter and therefore less painful to watch.
