TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, the third of the MUMMY Hollywood blockbuster adventure series starring Brendan Fraser, is the pits and the worst of the lot. As the film opens, evil Han Emperor Jet Li has been entombed to eternity by good sorceress Michelle Yeoh. Unearthed by father and son team, Rick and Alex O‘Connell (Fraser and Luke Ford), the two have to prevent the Emperor from raising his dead army and ruling the world.
MUMMY 3 is special effects and CGI gone mad without any sense or meaning. The plot is ridiculous. Since when are mummies found in China? (I checked Wikipedia.) What are Shangri-la and the abominable snowmen doing here? Watching this film is as exciting as watching someone else playing video games.
The film is unintentionally hilarious. I still cannot get over Michelle Yeoh’s two lines. “I almost died but I was saved by the Yetsi and brought to Shangri-la.” “We will cross the Great Wall of China where the conquered dead of the emperor will rise from the dead and take revenge!” On the other hand, side kick John Hannah and Rick’s wife Evelyn played by Mario Bello have nothing to say but roll around in the dirt. Terrible is too nice a word to describe this film.
